Just a brief post for our own records that we now have two more Mold-A-Ramas from Milwaukee County Zoo!
One of my daughters made a spreadsheet of all our Mold-A-Ramas figures and their origins, and was pleased that we now have things acquired in the month of May. Apparently a first for us, and the only month not represented in the collection is November, so we will keep that in mind this coming Thanksgiving weekend.
At our zoo we picked up a second otter in a new color, and a turtle! We've never seen a turtle Mold-A-Rama before, so that's fun.
The zoo outing in general was nice. They have changed their entrance design to be a QR code thing where you enter your license plate after you park. I'm not really a fan of any system that requires you to have a phone (or a car for that matter), but I suppose it's nice to not have to wait in a line.
The bird exhibit is closed out of caution about bird flu in the area. We missed seeing crocodile birds, but glad they are safe. There was no lack of peacocks all over the zoo, however, so we got our fill of birds that way. Lots of fancy tail displays performed for disinterested looking peahens, but also peacocks in trees and loud squawking. There are few things more beautiful than peacock feathers, so we appreciated seeing them in every enclosure from the giraffes to the camels to the kudus.
It's amazing how relaxing a visit to the zoo can be when you are not in charge of anyone else. My adult kids don't need help navigating bathrooms and are in charge of their own water bottles and I couldn't carry them at this point if I wanted to. Quite pleasant!
We've been on a bit of a break from Mold-A-Rama collecting since our early whirlwind trips, but have discovered many new interesting figures on the map to go find. There's even a sphinx available at the public library in Los Angeles if we ever venture that far out west again.
And of course we still have hopes of getting our own machine going. My kids have ideas for several unique designs that I think would be amazing to do.
Next stop should be for more figures we don't have yet from the Brookfield Zoo! Stay tuned.
