I graduated from a four year apprenticeship in violin making in 2000. I haven't built as many instruments in my career as I would have liked by now, because in 2001 I also started making children.
In answer to the two most common questions I get: The back, sides, and scroll are made of maple, the top is made of spruce. And: Too long.
Now I have my own violin store where I do repairs, rentals, and rehairs. I also build instruments on commission.
More information about my life as a luthier can be found on our Korinthian Violins site.
