I still have a old Canon AE-1 or something in the attic somewhere that I used when Aden was a baby, and I took some really nice pictures with it. I loved being able to adjust the focus myself, but the current point and shoot is more practical for my life. Maybe in the future....

Some places do sort of sell albums, but all the ones we could find at places like Target were weird. (Strange covers, fixed number of pages.) Michael's had a ton of them but all with those destructive sticky pages. But yeah, there is nothing like sitting down at someone's house and flipping through a life like a picture book. We went through the photos of my brothers as babies when we were all in Michigan this summer. I loved Arno's wife on the porch of his childhood home smiling at all those cute pictures of twins and asking questions. Albums are good, even if they are pain to put together at the time.Korinthiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15580286551375780490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8654887465201994138.post-59783751202966071462016-01-16T19:34:17.877-06:002016-01-16T19:34:17.877-06:00A post about photography!! For all my love of photography, I'm pretty inconsistent about making prints for frames and even worse about putting pictures in albums (I haven't put pictures in an album since college!!) but I've always meant to, because I like looking at pictures that way. Just yesterday I flipped through an album at my SIL's house... All photos I'd seen before (and some I'd taken!) but still fun to look through in print form.

I'd have to see the photos to know for sure what you mean, but I suspect the softness you notice in film photos is due to a combination of aperture and processing techniques. Digital cameras perform better than film in low light and so point&shoot models tend to have higher apertures as standard which keeps more of the picture in focus. Additionally, they are typically printed with ink directly to paper, whereas film has a light shone through the negative to react with a chemical on the paper... More chances for a gentle 'blur'. You're right that it's not an issue with professional grade cameras (which let the photographer choose the aperture settings) and real pros will still get their photos printed on photo paper using light in the printing process.

And yeah, the ability to look at my picture and fix it immediately is the only reason I learned to shoot in manual mode. I can't imagine the learning curve before!!!

I'm glad you got your photo project underway. I doubt you'll ever regret making those albums!!
-LisaLisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06351940065850639770noreply@blogger.com
